Meet the face behind it all

How the journey began

I bought my first camera in 2015 when I started working online as a virtual educator. My intention was to create biweekly vlogs for my students so that they would not feel so alone when they were in my class. However, as I spent more time getting to know the camera, I found myself enjoying seeing the world through the viewfinder more than being in front of the lens.

My first clients

Danny Zolch and Josh Barrett were long distance lovers that spent every moment they had together capturing memories to hold onto for then their paths parted again. Their love story was an inspiration to me, as I had always believed that true love could conquer any distance. I had the honor of being this couple’s personal photographer. Each session we had was a testament of their love and devotion to each other.

Now these two are married and living out their happily every after.

Shadowing Heather Reid

In 2017 my photography business was starting to grow and I made it my mission to find ways to improve my skills so that my clients could have the best best quality product.
I met Heather Reid through a fellow photographer at church. He suggested that I shadow under her and learn some of her tricks of the trade. Suddenly my world went from easy going engagement sessions to fast passed, yet rewarding wedding sessions. Heather taught me how to keep a cool head during high stress situations and how your external flash can be your best friend.

Behind the Name

My grandfather had an eye for photography and a talent of being able to dial in the perfect camera settings for any situation and produce a fantastic shot; a skill that I would have done anything to have. However, this skill was not hereditary.
On October 11, 2017, he lost his battle to cancer and sepsis, leaving all of his worldly treasures behind. Amongst these treasures was his old camera, the first Pentax. Before I had found this in his closet, I was not aware of his interest and skills in photography. Whenever we spoke, he took more interest in discussing naval history and warfare. I rarely heard him talk about photography. It was an interesting fact to find out about him.
Stormy Galleries is named in honor of his memory.
